Notions and Commotions
I just saw the first part of the American Idol for the second time a while ago and it made me think again. Does Kris Allen truly deserve the title to be the eight season winner of the American Idol. Has America got it all wrong? Some are saying that this is the biggest upsets in the AI history. Even more than when Chris Daughtry was eliminated in season five. And I have to say a lot of issues have arisen because of Kris Allen's surprise victory. I personally chose Kris since day one over the glam rocker and guy-liner Adam Lambert who consistently delivered some of the amazing performances on the American Idol stage in the judges' opinion. I recall Paula Abdul practically gave him the title the first night that he performed. Even Simon Cowell, who is known for his nasty remarks among the judges told him that he's gonna be an international star and even gave him a standing ovation. But when Danny Gokey was eliminated the first thought that entered my brain was Oh man, this is definitely Adam Lambert's season. Over a record-breaking 100 million votes were cast this season. And what do you know it, America had a lot of surprises under its sleeves that it made the unexpected the expected and made Kris Allen the winner. So what went wrong? Hmmm. Let's speculate shall we? Here are a few theories that I have in mind on why did Adam Lambert lost over Kris Allen. First. Okay I have this really cliche theory on my mind. It worked on a couple of idol hopefuls like Michael Johns and Carly Smithson on the past season. We all knew that Adam was the judges' favorite this season. They didn't just gave him praise they practically crowned him as the winner every damn week. On how he's a total performer; On how he always and when I say always I say always makes his song choices one of his own; On how he is the greatest singer slash performer in all history. Okay, we get it that he is already the American Idol in the judges' eyes. But there leaves this presumed notion that Adam totally got this in the bag it makes people lazy to vote for him hence he loose a huge number of votes. Kris Allen on the other hand received pretty good criticisms on some weeks while delivered solid performances as well. Some of them were good comments but it was not as consistent as Adam's. This made his fans a little more challenged to vote more for Kris to stay in the competition. So yeah what I'm trying to say is: Blame the Judges for Adam's loss. HAHAHA! This is just one theory though. Second. Danny Gokey and Kris Allen happen to be both Christians. They are both actively devoted in their religious organizations in Milwaukee and in Conway respectively. The glam rocker on the other hand has been quiet about his beliefs throughout the show. It made me think that perhaps millions of Christian fans of Danny Gokey voted for Kris Allen over Adam which gave him a lot of boost for the win. I know it's obvious that religion is indeed such a small factor that can contribute to a person's win but the fact that American Idol is still a family-friendly show that extends to a large demographic number of Christian viewers is a big proof. I found out that five out the seven past winners of the American Idol are all very vocal about their Christian beliefs. Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks and Ruben Studdard are just to name a few. Coincidence? Perhaps. Third. I think almost half of the viewers of the American Idol are teens. I remember when the top three were all given a chance to visit their hometowns to pay tribute and to gather support, Kris Allen in particular was greeted by dozens of screaming tween girls who looked like they were in the presence of a long-lost Jo Bro. This is the same crowd that made Miley Cyrus and High School Musical famous. A futile theory though, but young girls go for the acoustic balladeer, a guy-next-door type of musician and that speaks Kris from start to finish. He is type of guy who sang a Kanye West song and look like a high school heartthrob in it. And I think only a few number of girls go for the glam rocker and sexually ambiguous looks that Adam possesses. Do you guys agree? I think I'm going to stop here if I don't want to get shot by a swarm of Adam fans. Anyways these are just my weird notions on why Adam lost the title over Kris. But at the end of the day, yes I do believe that the real competition starts outside the American Idol stage. Besides, you don't need the title to become famous and to earn lots and lots of money. I believe its up to artist and his/her perseverance and passion to give good music. Just look at Taylor Hicks of season five. He was the crowd favorite that time, a total performer as well. But where is he now? Taylor Hicks' debut album as I discovered only sold 700, 000+ number of copies to date. Not remotely close to his fellow season five hopeful Chris Daughtry and his debut album with selling over five million copies to date. Kellie Pickler [do you guys still remember this funny girl?] even sold more copies of her album than Taylor did. I am a Kris Allen fan but I cannot assure that he's gonna make it big in the music industry, so is Adam. And I think the best way on times like this is too just wait and see. *image courtesy of: RenzyBenzy Friday, May 22, 2009

Plethora of Cliffhangers
The show's first season just ended last Tuesday and it was just a wreck of cliffhangers in my opinion. HAHA. I just saw the finale this afternoon and I was completely left hanging slash disappointed. It was a good episode, by the way but really, they call that a season ender? If I was not mistaken season enders should tie the loose ends of the whole season while leaving a FEW of them behind for further excitement for the proceeding season. It should resolve undergoing issues that's been surrounding the entire season right? After watching I was like, that's it? You just leave things like that? C'mon the writers of 90210 can do better than that -- at least I hope they can do better than that. I wanted to be wrong actually. Perhaps my resources were not accurate enough because I'm not ready to leave 90210 just yet. Let's just cross our fingers that there will still be more episodes to come. Because trust me, if you saw the season finale that I just saw you would be having the same reaction right now. Anyways I already warned you enough above so I'll just spill the beans without further ado. Here's what happened so far. Don't blame me if I gave you too much. :)) HAHAHA! *SPOILER*SPOILER*SPOILER*SPOILER*

Brown Hype
I first heard Dan Brown when the whole controversy of the production of the motion picture [Da Vinci Code] took center stage on most televisions and other means of the media worldwide a few years back. It intrigued me to be honest, because of its engrossing and controversial plots. Apparently too engrossing and controversial that it shook the very foundation of Christianity across the globe. But then to tell you the truth I was afraid that my comprehension was not yet ready for such compelling novels around those years. No, I'm not talking about the whole Science versus Religion thing, I mean the whole idea of the novels. I was afraid that the tone of the story was somewhat mature that I wouldn't grasp any information out of it if that makes sense. So for that time around, I just focused myself on wizards and magic and wands and wardrobes that lead to a new world and recently vampires and the like. Nonetheless, I believe there's always a start for everything and I think I'm capable enough to comprehend these works now. Haha. I wish. What forced me to read it was when I first saw the Angels and Demons movie trailer. Weird right? I also saw this Illuminati featurette on Youtube that was so enticing and Robert Langdon's ingenuity was also a plus. The intriguing Path of Illumination and also the concept of the Anti-matter also caught my reading attention. Now the question that's been bugging me is which one should be read first? I've discovered that Angels and Demons was chronologically first and was published in 2000 while The Da Vinci Code was published later in 2003. But DVC was first made into a movie followed by Angels and Demons this year. Do I have to read it using the chronological order or the one that Hollywood suggested? Is it all just a matter of preferences? Few are claiming that you'll be able to understand Angels and Demons if you read Da Vinci first. HUH? I'm confused. Anyways, before I leave I found these interesting and provoking quotes I might say out of the two novels in this specific site. Reading them again just excites me more and more. I know Dan Brown won't disappoint. :)

The David Experience
See what I told you about how life can still surprise us? I can't even believe that the words from my previous blog entry will be so powerful that it can turn the expected events of the next day. This really proves the saying that when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it. The Alchemist anyone? :)) Haha. In short, I was fortunate enough to witness the much awaited concert of the summer -- at least in my opinion. What else but the battle between AI's season seven winner and runner-up David Cook and David Archuleta!! Whew, the events exactly twenty-four hours ago wasn't how I imagined how I would spend my usual Saturday actually. Hell, the idea of watching the two didn't even crossed my mind the moment I woke up that day. Everything was a package of surprise in other words. You see, I finally dismissed the idea of watching the moment I posted my previous entry. It's just this hopeless act of desperation on my part. Haha Perhaps too desperate. XD Yesterday was so surreal. I actually thought I was dreaming on some parts until I've heard the two David's amazing voices that it all started to sink in. Haha. As I quoted what I said when Alje, Emillee and I were there "Parang kanina lang natutulog ako tapos ngayon nanunuod na ko ng concert" And it was true. I actually woke up around two in the afternoon without knowing what was in store for me in the following hours. My friends had to go and search my humble abode since my phone was out of reach that time to bring me the good news. [It was lowbat so sorry guys] The only thing that frustrates me was the fact that my digicam was borrowed by my big sis so there was few pictures that were done while we were there. Grrr. Too bad, I could have documented our whole journey through the Mall of Asia which brings another set of amazing stories. That day was totally a one night to remember! Sulit na ang summer! :)) PS: Don't dream that we actually paid twelve grand just to see the two Davids. We just bought the less expensive ones [HAHA!] but what the heck, we still enjoyed ourselves out. Thanks to the plasma screen of course. XD Saturday, May 16, 2009
The Pug & Me
Life isn't all fun right cute little pug? Awww. Who thinks this dog's adorable? Anyways I'm planning for an early start on my project [if you know what I mean] so I'll sleep early tonight. God, I hope this works. ;] Friday, May 15, 2009
Mind Over Matter eh?
Let's just spend the last drop of muse that I have with random things shall we? I'll consider this as my boredom buster since I'm waiting for my energy to be replenished on Rock Legends. Its this Facebook thing that I've been totally into lately. Suits the frustrated rocker in me. Haha. Good thing mom's letting me spend extra hours on the internet because I'm dead bored right now. Anyways Imma just play Panic At The Disco and FM Static on iTunes while I'm doing this. Who knew that Panic can make Folk and Country sound really good? And I never imagine that Punk and God can come off hand-in-hand? Great great music. Ooh. I just stumble upon this cool picture over the internet that I wanna show you guys. Here it goes: Ooops. Disappointed aren't you? Haha. But I find this really cool. I've always dreamed of having my own library. You know a room filled with books from various genres. Seriously I can spend my whole day there and call it a day. I guess Klaus Baudelaire and I shared that same aspect. Weird right? Like who dreams of owning a library? Well me I guess. :) Thursday, May 14, 2009
Damn Straight!
Sometimes complicated problems only require a simple solution. [Or at least a good and simple precautionary measure to prevent the problem in the first place] Simple but oftentimes true. That was what I learned today about my recent sleeping problem. Seriously I can totally pass as a graveyard shift employee with my odd snoozing pattern. And I think this is starting to get a little out of hand. Can somebody beat my 6am sleeping time schedule? I'm still planning to fix this though. School anyone? But one thing's for sure, this let's-go-fix-the-biological-clock project will probably be on the works next month. Hahaha. By the way as you can see it's almost a week ago since I last updated this little blog of mine and up to this very moment I'm still totally out of muse to write something sensible. So yeah there you have it. My blog is once again updated yeay! PS: I hope the witty picture above makes this post a little more interesting. XD Tuesday, May 5, 2009
Singko de Mayo
Errr, in ordinary terms, I am now officially a sophomore! Hahah. Tsk. Too bad I wasn't able to get Bowling as my PE. That would have been super exciting don't you guys think? But what was my option? A friendly schedule or an exciting PE subject? There were a lot of factors to consider before I made this decision although I had to admit I almost succumbed to the temptation of the bowling arena. In the end, majority of my friends still picked the friendly schedule over the alluring mere sound of the sport. Oh trust me, we had gone through a TOUGH schedule last semester that's why we knew these kinds of things. I recall getting to our house around ten and waking up around four in the morning the next day. And don't get me started with the heavy schoolwork that came hand-in-hand with our prior schedule because that's another story. So back to the whole friendly schedule all over again: I was pretty satisfied with my schedule this semester. Even though, I've been making extreme efforts to stay away from the early time slots, it seemed like these early classes had been following me relentlessly even more. Know why I hate 7am classes? Haha. I was always the late kid to all of my first period 7am class both first and second semester last year. My punctuality has been my utmost problem here in college asides from my ineffective time management skills. Now I suddenly got this weird notion that maybe that was the reason why these 7am classes kept on chasing me no matter how I tried to avoid them because they wanted to give me a little lesson on punctuality. I don't know. Sometimes fate puts you into a difficult situation in order for you to learn. But I'm really trying my hardest but sometimes my lazy body gets the best of me. Oh boy, I reckon a trick of waking up early will be discovered before I return to the halls of our school once again. Anyways, here's my schedule this upcoming semester. Pretty nice eh? I made this with so little space so I didn't include the real names of the following course codes. If you got curious by any chance, here's what those obscure letters above simply translate:

Nocturne Switch
Take this day for an example: Today, I woke up around three in the afternoon. That wasn't your usual I-woke-up-too-early-so-I'm-sleeping-again scenarios nor the afternoon siestas as we Filipinos call it, that was a straight snooze right there and a normal one as I would call it. I was usually visited by sleep around four or five in the morning hence explained my 3pm wake-up call. I've tried everything: listened to the radio, drank all the liquid contents of our fridge, re-read all the novels that I got in my bedroom but all my attempts were all useless. It was a good thing that my mom wasn't your typical stereotype that busts through your door when it's already ten in the morning screaming "TANGHALI NA!" Hahaha. That's why I love my mom. She doesn't care if it's already lunch and I'm still drooling in my pillows while exploring the dreamland. But she's still as compassionate and loving as like all the prototype moms out there. I know that this is such a bad habit and I really need to get my biological clock on its right shape since summer's about to end. Apparently too early since this typhoon's been spoiling the whole season. But I love the rain so I don't really care. Hahaha. Hey, I still got a month a half of freedom. Hopefully the remaining weeks will be better than the prior one's. Sigh. Summer's getting shorter and shorter. Don't you guys notice that? Nonetheless, I don't want this little insomia problem of mine to interfere with my school performance this coming semester. Well, not I care THAT much about school. But better start early before it gets a little out of hand. God, I hate sleeping early. "The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. The way they see themselves. The way they see the world. You can change the way people live their lives. That’s the only lasting thing you can create." -- Chuck Palahniuk This dude is such an amazing writer. :) Friday, May 1, 2009

Vanity isn't a sin, a little narcissm wouldn't hurt.Greetings stranger! If you ever by any chance stumble upon this little world that I created myself in the vast and tangled universe of the world wide web, consider yourself warned. I am extremely well known for being enigmatic and difficult to understand. I may seem detached and incapable of revealing my innermost feelings simply because I am oftentimes unable to do so. Perhaps philosophical at times and is interested in what we called the unexplained. Consider me as a little bit of everything all rolled into one. On some days I can be social, fun loving, outgoing and creative on one hand my personality is also contrasted with being sarcastic, moody and stubborn. So while some days will be a hit and others a miss hopefully but most days, will be and should be better than others. Nonetheless, read at your own risk. In short, WELCOME to Planet Oblivion!
