High School Never Ends
I'm sorry, I'm just completely mad at what my Philippine Literature professor did this morning. Since Buwan ng Wika is fast approaching, she is insisting that our block should prepare for the upcoming speech choir competition. Take note, this is optional. I believe we have the right to refuse if we're not really interested. It's not like preparing for a speech choir will be that easy. This will take weeks. Plus, we also need to finish writing a news script in our Broadcast Journalism class before midterm. Major subject alert! So what should we do, it's not like all of us are also willing to join -- which will just lessen our chances of winning. She mentioned last week that the people who will join will obviously get some incentive but that's it! Before I know it this week, she just keeps on telling us that this is our midterm project! I could seriously go WTF?! What's also bad, is she actually blackmailed two of my friends to spearhead the block's practice and if they refuse, they will automatically get a failing grade. Ano to, high school? No, this is worst than high school as a matter a fact. When all things were settled, we finally convinced our professor that joining would do no good on both sides. As her final word, she gave us this loooooong midterm project instead. Wanna see? Here it goes: Collect various forms of literature according to their genre: These are no summaries. We have to include every single damn detail including the novel of our choice. Though we are given ample time to prepare, still this is really a tedious thing to research. Plus the money that we have to spend for the ringbinding of our project. We have to cope with the recession right? I would totally understand if this is a major subject that we're talking about but sadly its not. If this sounds like college to you, I'm sorry but maybe I'm just not used to evil professors and looooong and nonsense projects. Ugh. Thanks a lot Ma'am, now I'm starting to reconsider if my impression of you the first time I saw you is accurate. Nothing changes but the faces, the names and the trends, High School never ends... I recall the song by Bowling for Soup while I'm doing this short and nonsense rant. Haha. Plase bear with me T.T Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Half-Blood Prince Movie Review
Category: MoviesOnce again, Harry and the rest of the gang return for the sixth installment of this multi-million franchise. And it looks like a lot darker than any of the other films. I am still in complete awe right at this very moment actually. It's surreal. Just like standing on two different worlds both at the same time. I mean, words cannot describe how amaze I am from the movie that I just saw. Okay, screw me if I'm just being clouded by my better judgment but I do admit my obsession for Harry Potter. So I will try my best to restrain myself from releasing a plethora of superlatives with this one. You got a problem with that? God I hope this works. Haha. Harry Potter fanatic Off; Pseudo-Movie Critic On Making a good review based purely on their special effects is quite absurd. That's just a contributing factor. Please, all of the British or American blockbusters are expected to have an A++ on their special effects. And of course, this film is not an exception. :] Moving on, one complain that I always hear when Hollywood makes a movie adaptation of something is the "they didn't show this; they didn't show that" protest. The audience keeps on telling how the producers had made huge cuts from the books, on how they have missed narrating some parts and so on. We tend to forget that Movies and Books are just two different forms of artwork. There are some elements that would work on books but would look contrived when shown on movies. Who wants to watch a dragging five-hour film right? Sadly, the Half-Blood Prince also missed a few chapters or two. But the real underlying question here is if the cuts that has been done would still make the movie comprehensible and less confusing. It's all about the art of cutting. Haha. For dropping a certain part of a book could either make or break a movie adaptation. In the Half-Blood Prince's case, my answer is a big YES. I was surprised actually, because there were several changes in the movie but to my amazement the whole thing worked! It was like magically crafted for the non-readers to understand. A complete opposite of what they did with the Order of the Phoenix which was just a train-wreck. Though I have read the book already, I gave their editing of scenes a two-thumbs up! Half-Blood Prince in my opinion is the darkest part throughout the entire series next to the Deathly Hallows. Though it has been difficult to make it a little bit lighter on the movies, David Yates made an ingenious job by making a beautiful transition of scenes. It was beautifully contrasted with humor and romance while balancing it with dark undertones. You can also tell the growth that each of the characters has gone throughout the six years; from being an innocent eleven year old wizards until becoming responsible adolescent practioners of magic. To tell you the truth this was the saddest yet the most humorous movie out of all the six films that I have watched. Cormac McLaggen, Lavander Brown (Won-Won!) and Luna Lovegood are just a few names that contributed to the film's surprising hilarity. Indeed it has been funny, but yeah this was also the first HP movie where I found myself in tears. I am not that emotional on movies but the passing of Albus Dumbledore ( Oops. spoiler :p ) just made my eyes really glassy. He has been one of the characters in the series whom I grew to love. And just seeing him die on the big screen is just plain heartbreaking. Hell yeah I cried and I am man enough to admit that! Haha. Probably the best out of all the HP movie adaptation that I have seen, indeed Harry Potter and Half-Blood Prince has it all. I'm not really a fan of this specific part of the series but the movie made me think otherwise. Overall, the movie has been in many ways amazing. Overfilling with deep emotions the movie has been both marvelous, witty, dark, humorous, and poignant. Definitely a must see movie of the year. Tuesday, July 14, 2009
Awakening
Whenever my brain spurs out ideas from out of nowhere, I feel like I am suppose to channel it into something profound. Sometimes I feel like I should write things amazing for you guys to read. Poetic, deep, inspirational, amazing, and sweeping ideas. Tales coming from things that would soon change another person's perspective on the world around him. Insights that could add color to a dull moment. Anything. As long it requires a deeper sense and meaning to it. But you know what? Today I have come to realize that life isn't always like that. It's not always about meaningful encounters and realizations. Nor it is not all about happily ever afters and light at the end of the tunnels. Life isn't all about kissing in the rain, heroic deeds and epic stories. It's not all about death-defying acts, unfathomable words of wisdom and life changing circumstances. You see, life can be mundane. Sometimes life is waking up early, coming to school, getting to class and then coming home once again. It is a routine at some point. Life is dealing with parents. It's having petty fights with your friends. It may bore us to death but that's the reality. People don't just wake up and change the world. :) My thoughts can sometimes be as common as an ordinary man. It may not seem motivational or entertaining at some people. Sometimes I am consumed with thoughts that has already been thought off by a million times before. Most of the time actually. Sure, sometimes life is plain. It's occasionally or most of the time boring. But never think that you need something exciting or wonderful or profound just to find happiness and marvel in it. They say beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. For me I find that truly empowering because it enables us in to find beauty in places where no one else has not dared to look. Always believe that there is wonder waiting for all of us out there, in the ordinary, in the normal. All we just have to do is to look a little harder. Sunday, July 12, 2009
Voyage of Beliefs
A universally acknowledged quotation states that if you truly love someone you should set them free and if they come back, then they're yours to keep. Did I got my words right? Hmmm, I think I did. But now that I think about it, does it work on our dreams as well? I believe every living existence in our planet dreams of something; whether its a tangible object, a state of living or a dream profession. We wake up everyday with a list of wishes a mile long and maybe we spend our lives trying to make those wishes come true. It's human nature to want something. I believe we are created to fulfill our life's wishes for ourselves and for the people around us. But I think there's always a point in our life when we finally realize that not all of our dreams can be fulfilled at once. A turning point in our life when we finally see the reality that in order to move forward, we need to let go of unnecessary baggages that hinder our own path. It's true that our dreams in life makes the ride worthwhile but it's a huge world out there with a lot of twist and turns on every corner. Sometimes letting go of a dream can also start a new beginning. Just because we want our dreams so bad doesn't mean that we need them to be genuinely happy right? Sadly, our notions about happiness can actually entrap us from being happy. We tend to forget that they are just ideas and ideas only. We're blinded with our own notions that we fail to see the happiness that is right in front of us when we are caught in a belief that happiness should take a particular form. Remember that the idea of being happy can actually prevent us from reaching the real happiness. The Alchemist, one of the greatest books ever created stated very optimistic words that when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it. If this words are true then all human beings should be happy by now or better yet, the world will reach perfection in an instant. I learn today that we shouldn't live with profound words and profound words alone. Do you guys agree? Today I finally came to idea that life is totally different from a Hollywood movie. Where a protagonist succeeds at the end of the day, you see sometimes things doesn't fall like that. Grrr. I hate being melancholic in terms of my blog posts but I cannot force my thoughts when it's preoccupied with stuff like these. You can consider this as the turning point of a shepherd who finally realizes that he cannot be an astronaut in decades. See my analogy? -------- Last thoughts before I immerse myself in piles of Communication Theory notes :] Saturday, July 11, 2009

Exiled
It's been a a year now since dad got a hold of a new PC after our old one got on a really really REALLY bad condition two years ago. After that, our new computer has become an extension of my being. Call me names for being such a computer dependent but it's true. And loosing a part of someone can really harm one's health; it's like quitting to smoke for a week to a chain smoker and skipping a bottle of alcohol in an alcoholic. Okay, maybe not at the same rate but you get what I'm talking you know? But then again, I guess despite being such a computer dependent, I also took this form of technology in front of me for granted. I overlook some of its limitations and forgot that the computer also require some rest. Fine, I do admit I am guilty, case and point for using the computer 'till my eyes go red or my head goes flying in pain. In a way, I guess this serves as a wake up call for me to take good care of things around me ---- and a wake up call for me to watch out for my health as well (HAHA!). After all, if it wasn't for this I am nothing in the internet world. :)) I do have a lot of stories to tell after my self proclaim exile for five days, but I do not want to fill your brains with rumbled ideas coming a complicated mind like mine so let's just stop here. I had a weird week and it sure is filled with a lot of funny stories with it. If my muse to write will cooperate with me, I might update my blog once again the next day ---- Hopefully. Hahaha. |

Vanity isn't a sin, a little narcissm wouldn't hurt.Greetings stranger! If you ever by any chance stumble upon this little world that I created myself in the vast and tangled universe of the world wide web, consider yourself warned. I am extremely well known for being enigmatic and difficult to understand. I may seem detached and incapable of revealing my innermost feelings simply because I am oftentimes unable to do so. Perhaps philosophical at times and is interested in what we called the unexplained. Consider me as a little bit of everything all rolled into one. On some days I can be social, fun loving, outgoing and creative on one hand my personality is also contrasted with being sarcastic, moody and stubborn. So while some days will be a hit and others a miss hopefully but most days, will be and should be better than others. Nonetheless, read at your own risk. In short, WELCOME to Planet Oblivion! A small planet in the blogosphere universe. Help me in my quest in finding a deeper meaning on what lies beneath this planet's surface.
